Schedule An Appointment


Have questions? Schedule an appointment with your financial aid counselor! Every KU student has an assigned financial aid counselor that can help guide you through the financial aid and scholarships process. 

Financial aid counselors can assist students and their families with information about financial aid and scholarship options at KU, calculating costs, and how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Current KU Students and Admitted Prospective Students can schedule an appointment using the Jayhawk GPS Navigate Student App or by logging into Jayhawk GPS via the Navigate360 website using your KU single sign-on. 

All students and families can also schedule an appointment by calling our office at 785-864-4700.

Using our Appointment System - Jayhawk GPS

To schedule an appointment, use the Jayhawk GPS Navigate Student App or log into Jayhawk GPS via the Navigate360 website using your KU single sign-on.

Once your are logged into Jayhawk GPS, you have two options for making an appointment:

  • On the app, click "+" (the plus sign) on the top right of the page and then "Schedule Appointment."
  • On the website, click "Drop-in or Schedule Appointment."

You will then take the following steps:

  1. For the "What type of appointment are you interested in?" dropdown, select "Financial Aid & Scholarships"
  2. For the "Which of the following topics best describes your need?" dropdown, select the type of appointment you are interested in.
  3. Pick the date you want to meet.
  4. Click on the date/time you want to meet. You may also toggle between financial aid counselors by clicking on the initials above the time options to select a specific person.
  5. Choose your desired appointment type under "How would you like to meet?" 
    1. Choose “In-Person (Lawrence)” to meet at the 1502 Building - 1502 Iowa St. Lawrence, KS. 
    2. Choose “Virtual” to have a videoconference on Zoom. 
    3. Choose “Phone" to have a phone appointment - you will need to provide your phone number. 
  6. In the “Would you like to share anything else?” area, tell us what you want to discuss to help us prepare. If making a phone appointment, please include the phone number you would like us to contact you at. 
  7. Check the “Email Reminder” option to receive an email before your appointment. If you set your Jayhawk GPS settings to allow text messages, you could also choose that option. 
  8. Click the “Schedule” button. You will see a success page where you can then go view the details of your appointment. You will also receive a confirmation email with the date, time, location, and details about how to attend. Note: Make sure to check for the necessary Zoom link if oyu have scheduled a virtual appointment.

In-person Appointments

To attend your in-person appointment, please come to our location in the 1502 Building, 1502 Iowa St. Lawrence, KS. Please check in with our front desk.

Late Arrivals: You must arrive on time for your appointment. If you are late, you may have to wait for an available counselor or reschedule your appointment. 

 

Videoconference Appointments

To attend a virtual appointment, join the Zoom link provided by email. You must have a working microphone to talk with your counselor. We also encourage you to use your video. 

Late Arrivals: You must arrive on time for your appointment in Zoom. If you are more than 10 minutes late, we may not be able to conduct the appointment and will ask you to reschedule.

 

Phone Appointments

Your Financial Aid Counselor will call you at your appointment time at the phone number you provided when you scheduled the appointment.

No Answer: If you do not answer the phone at the time of your appointment, your financial aid counselor will attempt to leave a voicemail with callback information. If you are not able to callback within 10 minutes, we may not be able to conduct the appointment and will ask you to reschedule.

 

If you need to cancel your appointment,

  • Log into the Jayhawk GPS Navigate Student App or log into Jayhawk GPS via the Navigate360 website using your KU single sign-on.
  • Go to the Appointments tab and click on the appointment you want to cancel.
  • At the bottom right of the appointment details, click “Cancel Appointment.”
  • Choose one of the reasons from the dropdown menu, and click “Cancel Appointment.”
  • Once you have canceled your appointment, you may schedule a new appointment.

Drop-In Counseling

Although we highly encourage you to schedule an appointment, Financial Aid & Scholarships can also take in-person drop-ins on a first come, first serve basis. 

Drop-ins are welcome Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. In-person drop-in counseling is located at our office location: 1502 Building, 1502 Iowa St. Lawrence, KS 66045.

Please note: If a counselor is not available when you drop-in, we will provide you with the option to wait until someone is available to meet with you, or to schedule an appointment for a later time.
